Corinne is always really excited to have her diaper off during diaper changes so today I thought what the heck I’ll just let her go commando for a few minutes. She smiled and kicked her legs like crazy for several minutes and this was all during what is usually her fussiest time of day (7 to 8pm). As you probably guessed by now there was an accident, otherwise I probably would not have written about this. It was only number one and it was worth all the clean up to see her giggle and smile.

Corinne had a pretty action packed weekend. On Saturday we did some shopping and got Corinne some new pants since she is growing out of a lot of her clothes. Sunday we attended a house warming party in Montclair, NJ at my sister’s house. Monday our friend Mark came by and we walked around the Philly zoo for a bit. It’s hard to tell in this picture but we both had shirts with monkeys on them. It probably would’ve been a good idea to take a picture with the monkeys instead of these partially submerged hippopotami.

It wasn’t really quite solid and I would barely consider it food but last weekend we started Corinne on solid food with organic rice cereal. I was really surprised how interested she was in eating. As soon as Cynde brought the spoon near her mouth she chomped down like a little shark. She really didn’t know what to do after she got the cereal in her mouth though so most of it just ran back out. Overall I thought it went pretty well but I wasn’t prepared for the part where she lifted up the bib and covered her face with food. You always see those pictures of babies with food all over their face but I guess I always thought that the parents staged the scene for the sake of a funny picture. Corinne needed no assistance in creating the mess you see in the picture below. We have continued to give her the rice cereal once a day for a week and she is getting a lot better at actually swallowing the food.

Last week was Corinne’s 4 month check up at the doctor’s office. She is now 13 pounds 8 ounces and 24.75 inches long, both of which are right around the 50th percentile. She had to get her second round of vaccines at this visit and it went a lot better than the first time. Cynde and I were trying to distract her while they gave the injections and Cynde actually had her laughing for a minute. When Corinne realized what was going on she screamed and gave us this look of betrayal. One of the other items covered at this visit was starting solid foods but that is a whole separate post. To prepare for solid food we let Corinne practice by biting the heck out of this dragonfly teething ring that she is hugging in the picture below.

We had a bunch of moms to see for Mother’s Day but hopefully we gave them each their due. Observing Cynde for these last few months I truly have a greater appreciation for all that moms do. Saturday morning was set aside for Cynde. I made one of her favorite breakfasts (chocolate chip pancakes), I gave her a back massage, and I tried to take care of as much of the baby stuff as I could. Saturday evening we barbequed with my mom, sisters and aunt. Sunday afternoon we barbequed with Cynde’s mom. Corinne gave her mom a special treat on Mother’s Day when she rolled over all by herself for the first time. She has come pretty close to rolling over ever since she started doing tummy time, but I usually need to give her a little nudge. She has only recently repeated this feat a few days ago. Of course it was when I glanced away for an instant that she rolled off her mat and bumped her head. Below is a picture of Cynde’s mom, Cynde, and Corinne taken on Mother’s Day and a picture of my mom and Corinne taken the week after the baby was born.

While shopping with her cousins on South Street Corinne suddenly found herself in the middle of a march to legalize marijuana. Several of the demonstrators encouraged Corinne to join the march but she was like “dude?”. Hopefully this is the closest she ever gets to such an event.

Three weeks ago we were invited down to our friend’s beach house in Ocean City (NJ). It was the first time that we stayed anywhere overnight since we got Corinne home from the hospital. Since it was our first time away we brought pretty much the entire contents of the nursery with us and we actually used most of it. Corinne was really well behaved and she slept fine in her bassinet (at home she sleeps in her crib exclusively). It was really nice to get away and relax. This is a picture of Corinne and her buddy Cameron chillin’ at the beach house and below is the two of them in one of those photo booths at the boardwalk. I think the two pictures on the left look like they are telling eachother secrets.

The computer is finally fixed and we have a lot of catching up to do. I plan on posting quite a bit over the next few days to make up for lost time. Here is a cute picture of Corinne biting her bunny’s head to get us started.

I know it has been a while since my last post but it’s not because there wasn’t plenty to write about. Corinne has been very busy actually, but I have been having problems with my computer and so I was unable to tell you all about it. Over the last couple of weeks Corinne has been “talking” a lot more. Sometimes it seems like she is trying really hard to repeat back a word that I just said but it usually sounds something like “ahgoo”. For some reason she really gets a kick out of us over enunciating the word an-im-al. She is super smiley and we can even get her to laugh so that cute little noises come out. Cynde has been giving her more tummy time lately and now if you put your hands on the bottoms of her feet she can even do something between an army crawl and an inch worm type movement. It seems like recently Corinne has become somewhat camera shy. I get her smiling and laughing and as soon as I point the camera at her she gets real serious like and just stares at it. I tried to conceal the camera in different ways but for the most part she doesn’t fall for it. This picture is from a couple weeks ago and I was able to catch a little smile before she got shy.
