Corinne

Last Monday was Corinne’s 7 month old birthday. The biggest development this last month is probably those 2 little teeth that came in but that isn’t all that’s been going on. Corinne has mastered the sitting up thing and stands supported for a lot longer. She took a week or so off from talking but now she is back to babbling mostly some variation of the word “mom”. The last weekend before Corinne’s 7 month old birthday was a busy one. We went to the Camden Aquarium Saturday morning, came back to Philly and met up with a friend for lunch on the waterfront, then one of my sisters arrived with my brother in law and niece and we went on a tour of Philadelphia and then out to dinner. This was a little too much fun for one day and when dinner ran late Corinne had a bit of a meltdown. I decided to take her for a walk around downtown and I got my dinner wrapped up to go. Sunday must have felt like deja vu all over again when Cynde’s sister and nieces showed up. We went to South St. and center city to do some school shopping for most of the afternoon. Then Cynde’s parents arrived that evening and we went out for dinner. Even though it was still pretty early this time Corinne made it clear early on that she was not up for another night out. This time Cynde’s dad skipped dinner and went for a stroll but this time Corinne fell asleep pretty quickly. Another first this month was Corinne’s first solo flight on a playground style swing and she loved it, check out the picture below.

Since Corinne was about 2 months old she has been sleeping through the night with very few interruptions but for a few days last week she was waking up a couple times per night. Last Wednesday Cynde figured out what seems to be the cause. Corinne has not one, but two little teeth that made their way through her gums. Cynde discovered these little chompers the hard way when Corinne used her finger like a teething ring. They are still pretty small but they are super sharp. Corinne has been growing and changing so much these last 7 months that this might not seem like that big of a deal but for some reason it felt like a really big development. I think I panicked when I realized again how fast she was growing so I took about 200 pictures that night. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Last week Corinne said her first word, “Mom”. She pretty much hasn’t stopped saying it since then and she has many variations at this point. Mom, Mum, Momma, Ma, Mumuma. She also does this thing where she says Mum several times in a row, then lets out a shriek, and then smiles and laughs. That one is my personal favorite. I don’t think she knows who or what Mom is at this point but we are working on that. I also started trying to get her to say Dad but when I say Dad she says Mum then I say Dada and she pauses for a second and then says Mumuma.
