Last Tuesday was Corinne’s 10 months old birthday and just a couple of days later she crawled for the first time. She has been getting around a little bit for the last couple months but now she can properly crawl. I was afraid that as soon as she could crawl that she would head for the stairs which I haven’t gated off yet. Instead, she has used her new found mobility to search out any fuzz, dust, or hair that she can get her hands and eventually her mouth on. Another fun first came earlier this month when Corinne started dancing when we put some music on. It started with a little bouncing up and down, then she got a little shoulder shimmy going, and now I could swear I saw a little popin’ and lockin’. After a brief hiatus, teething resumed with her 7th tooth cutting through on the bottom. She put all of her teeth to good use this month trying all kinds of new foods. Corinne seems to enjoy storytime even more lately and now she even helps turn the pages (although sometimes Cynde isn’t quite done reading the page when Corinne decides it’s time to turn it). This is a picture of Corinne showing off her new crawling skills.

Today is my 31st birthday but it’s my first birthday as a dad. Cynde let me sleep in for a while and then she brought Corinne in to wake me up. Cynde got Corinne dressed up in a special new party dress for the occasion. I thought she looked so cute that I decided to do a little photo shoot. Here are a few of my favorite pictures…

A couple of weekends ago we took a drive up to New Hope to go to the apple festival at Peddler’s Village and do a little shopping. We wanted to take advantage of the perfect autumn weather before it gets to cold to be outside. This is a picture from when we walked down by the river to look at the leaves on the trees changing color.

Below is a picture of Corinne getting some use out of her swing that we put up in the backyard.

And if you think the cold weather will keep Corinne from her swing, think again. Check out the snuggly outfit that Grandma got her.

Corinne is still too young to eat candy so we decided not to go trick or treating but we found plenty of other ways to celebrate Halloween. About a week ago we went to a members only event at the Camden Aquarium called “Creep in the Deep”. They decorated the aquarium to make it look spooky for the occasion, Corinne got to pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, and we got to wander around the aquarium after dark.

Every year on Halloween our neighbors take an empty lot on our block and turn it into the “Spooky Garden”. They really go all out with the decorations and it draws hundreds of kids from all over the city. As the night goes on it turns into a block party. This year the local news station showed up to cover the event. Corinne’s costume was a big hit and it also helped keep her warm when it cooled off that night.

Some Philadelphia sports fans have waited pretty much their whole life to see one of the major local sports teams win a championship, but for Corinne it took just over 9 months. Corinne wasn’t one of these bandwagon jumpers that waited until late in the season to get behind the Phillies. She was down at the stadium cheering them on for a couple games this past summer, she was there again during a crucial playoff game, she stayed up way past her bedtime to see the Phillies close it out in game five (part 2), and she partied in the streets after the game. This past Friday I took the day off of work and we went to the parade to celebrate the victory. We got a close look at the players go by on their way to the parade staging area and then we walked around the city just observing all the craziness. Here are a couple of pictures of Corinne in her Phillies gear.
