Last weekend was Corinne’s first birthday. We decided to double the fun by having two small parties. On Saturday night we had a few of Corinne’s friends over and on Sunday we celebrated with our immediate families. This is a picture of Corinne and her birthday cake at party number one.

I call it her cake but she didn’t get to have so much as a finger full of icing. Since there is a history of food allergies in my family Corinne still hasn’t had any eggs or chocolate so Cynde made her some special vegan cupcakes. As you can tell in the pictures below I think she might have liked the cupcakes.

She put on a repeat performance on Sunday but after learning our lesson from the day before we decided to use a bib this time.

I think Corinne must have thought that it was too good to be true that she got to have a cupcake for a second day in a row so she quickly shoved the entire thing in her mouth before we could take it away. It might be difficult getting her back into eating carrots and lentils.

After the cake and presents were done Corinne’s cousins helped her build this train of toys that she paraded around the house.

After all the running around for the holidays we spent last Sunday lounging around the house in our PJs. Below are some pictures of the cuteness that ensued.

It’s been hard to find time to update the blog with all the running around we were doing for the holidays. For Corinne the celebration began on Christmas eve at Aunt Laura’s house. This is where she opened a present for the first time. She was a little timid at first and she checked with me and Cynde several times to make sure it was OK to be ripping up all that paper but after a while she got the hang of it. She got on such a roll that she actually tore into one gift that wasn’t meant for her. So by Christmas morning at Cynde’s parent’s house she was an old pro and she made fast work of a stack of presents and then moved on to Aunt Sheri’s house. We spent the afternoon playing Rock band 2 and Corinne did a great job as a back up dancer. Corinne must have really had the holiday spirit because even after running around all day she still had the energy to dance to Christmas carols for a solid half an hour late Christmas night before bed. It wasn’t until the Saturday after Christmas that we got back home for Corinne to open her gifts from us. It was all great fun and we are already looking forward to next year.
This is Corinne on her sweet new ride that Mom and Dad got her.
