Summer Vacation

Last week we headed south to Myrtle Beach for a summer vacation. Corinne had been to the beach before but this was the first time she really had a chance to play in the sand and go in the water. We weren’t sure if she would enjoy playing in the sand since up to this point it didn’t seem that she really liked getting dirty. Usually when she gets so much as a grain of sand or blade of grass on her hand she stops everything and holds up her hand until we wipe it off. She took to the sand fine though. Actually after digging around in the stuff for a while she must have gotten curious what it would taste like so she took a handful and put it in her mouth. Before I could get in there to wipe it out she swallowed all of it. Besides going to the beach we also went on a dolphin watching cruise, saw alligators, hung out in the pool, and no shore vacation would be complete without a trip to the arcade.

Corinne also had some notable “firsts” while we were away. Corinne has been trying to jump since shortly after she learned how to walk. She would sort of squat down and spring up but she would never really leave the ground. While we were away though she learned how to jump and actually got off the ground for the first time. She learned to say some new words including baby, nana (grandma) and pop pop (grandpa) and some new signs like fish. Corinne also had her first sleep over party. She stayed over in Cynde’s parents condo one night since Cynde and I had to go out early the following morning.

Bubble is still one of Corinne’s favorite words and she wants us to blow bubbles for her all the time. In the picture below she is reminding me that its bubble time while she chills out Magnum PI style with her wetsuit unzipped.

Bubble !!!

Over 4th of July weekend we were hanging out in the piazza with some friends  when Corinne spotted some bubbles floating by. Our friend Dinko captured her ecstatic reaction in the picture above. Bubble is actually one of the newest words that Corinne can say. She can say about 10 words in all now and she signs another half dozen or so.  Momma is still her favorite word and while she knows who her momma is she also uses it to mean just about anything else you can think of.
